How Hot Dipped Galvanised Pipe Is Created
A typical process of hot-dipped galvanisation is done as follows:
A caustic solution is used to remove any oil, paint, dirt or grease from the surface of the steel
An acidic solution is used to pickle the steel to remove any mill scale
Zinc ammonium chloride or any other flux is applied to steel to prevent oxidation when exposed to air
When the flux dries up, the molten zinc is wetted and applied on the steel
A zinc bath is prepared in which steel is dipped
The steel is kept in the bath until the steel temperature reaches that of the bath
Then the steel is allowed to cool down in a tank so that any reaction does not take place when exposed to the atmosphere
In some cases, lead is added to the bath to improve its fluidity, improve drainage, prevent floating dross, prevent uneven distribution of heat, and enable recycling of dross
